Winter Seasonal Medicine with Brooklyn Public Library (online)

Farthest from the sun, in winter we are most at the mercy of the elements, with colder temperatures and shorter days shaping even our inner world. We find ourselves getting sick more often, bemoaning crotchety Old Man Winter while we pine for summer’s breeze. But for all its challenges, winter offers us an opportunity: to rest, reflect and set intentions for who we want to be in the world—and in our bodies—when the earth begins its thaw. In a world driven by productivity and bottom lines, it encourages us to take space to simply be.

In Winter Seasonal Medicine, we will explore medicinal herbs and healing foods that help us fortify ourselves in the season of stillness. Making winter remedies from some of the oldest medicine systems in the world, we will attune to the wisdom that the Earth offers in the quiet of winter.

Together we will make an herbal cough syrup and warming, immune-strengthening herbal chai tea blend.

In light of the Omicron variant, this event has been moved online. Please register here to receive the Zoom link to the workshop. Grab and Go kits to create the recipe will be made available to the first 20 registrants. BPL will email you when they are ready. The recipe will be shared in advance if you'd  like to procure your own provisions.
