Preserving the Harvest: Fall Ferments with Oko Farms

  • Oko Farms 105 River Street Brooklyn, NY (map)

Every culture has a fermentation tradition. As a tool for food preservation, fermentation increases the bioavailability of nutrients in our food, unlocking nourishment to which we would otherwise not have access, while serving as manna for the beneficial bacteria in the gut.

In Preserving the Harvest we will explore the healing power of fermented foods, discuss the support they provide the immune and digestive systems and make two ferments from the beautiful vegetables and herbs that grew at Oko Farms’ River Street location this season.

Participants will leave with their own jar of sauerkraut. This workshop is part of Oko Farm’s Harvest Festival/Fundraiser.
