Mugwort Magic at Honey's Witch Fest 2022

  • Honey's 93 Scott Avenue Brooklyn, NY (map)

Magic is premised on the belief that the world is animated, unpredictable, and that there is a force in all things: ‘water, trees, substances, words …’ so that every event is interpreted as the expression of a … power that must be deciphered and bent to one’s will.

… Above all, magic seemed a form of refusal of work, of insubordination, and an instrument of grassroots resistance to power. The world had to be ‘disenchanted’ in order to be dominated.

– Silvia Federici, Caliban and the Witch pp. 173-174

Labeled invasive and treating accordingly in mainstream plant spaces, Mugwort is the abundant healer in our midst, with powers that help us harness insights from the dream realm, firm up our energetic boundaries, strengthen digestive fire and even regain footing after heavy Cannabis use.

In this offering, we’ll explore ways to invite in Mugwort's wisdom—exemplary of the threshold-crossing powers of countless members of the Artemisia genus—making a talisman for protection and dream work that attendees can take home.

Together we’ll deepen our knowledge of this so-called invasive plant, explore the ways that carrying wild medicine and its magic can support us in resisting domination by the powers that be and endeavor to re-enchant the ground upon which we walk.

Workshop runs from 7pm to 8pm. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased here.
